I was brought up in Isle of Tiree a small island on the west of Scotland. I left Tiree when I reached 17 years of age to go and work in a children’s home in the town of Lanark.
After a couple of years I went to work in a convalescent home in Galashiels in the borders, from there I went to work as a mothers help in Newton Mearns, after that I went to Oban to work in Dalantart Hospital until I got married and had three sons.
I moved about through UK due to my husbands job as he was a Shepherd, my role was to look after the Collies which did not bother me as I was brought up with dogs so looking after them did not floor me in any way. Unfortunately my marriage broke down and I had to move from where we were living and I moved to Inverness.
From there I brought up my boys as a single parent and found work in the care sector about town. Through out my life I had met a few huskies via friends and family and I always thought I might get one as I found them lovely
This is where my relationship with huskies start. My dogs became my inspiration which ultimately lead to birth of SHSDR. Here’s to helping many more of these beautiful dogs.
